The King’s Trilogy by Mimi Jean Pamfiloff

A NEW, DARK FANTASY FROM NEW YORK TIMES BESTSELLER, MIMI JEAN PAMFILOFF

“I am the man who can find anything or anyone. For a price. And my price is you.”

When Mia Turner’s brother goes missing in Mexico, while on an archaeological dig, she believes that life couldn’t get much worse. But when she’s blocked at every turn from finding answers, by both local and U.S. authorities, she must turn to a man she swears is the devil.

Others might be fooled by his private jet, fine tailored suits, and disarming smile, but Mia knows something dark, sinister, and unnatural lurks behind those penetrating, pale-gray eyes. And the more she learns, the more she realizes she may never be free again.

My Thoughts:

Whoa! This story was one twisted roller coaster ride. Similar to Mimi Jean Pamfiloff‘s Fate Book this story is not at all what you think it is when you start reading it. Mia Turner is looking for her brother Justin who disappeared from an archaeological dig site. Getting no help from the US Embassy or the FBI, Mia stumbles into an amnesty office where she received sympathy and the name of a man who could help her. King. No first name. No last name. Just King. First impressions of King: brusque, enigmatic, and misogynistic. However, as you read further into the story you begin to see that it only a thin veneer of who he truly is. King has secrets and abilities that boggle the mind. And unbeknownst to her, so does Mia, and King unlocks them for her at Justin’s last known location in Mexico. Mia is instantly fearful. Her “gift” as the Seer of Light allows her to see things that her rationale mind just will not process. With King, Mia crisscrosses the globe in an attempt to find her brother… while simultaneously trying to lose King. But King will not be denied or thwarted. Mia is his. His possession. His toy. And, he let’s her know that at every possible moment. But he also teases Mia’s senses. She is aroused by the darkly mysterious man. As she is thrust deeper into King’s world she uncovers devastating truths and suffers a devastating blow. The ending of King’s definitely leaves a mystery and a cliffy (Blek!) but we also see traces of King’s humanity and kindness. It’s in there. Deep. But, still present. King for a Day is all queued up and ready to read. I must know what happens. Where is King?!?

Book Description:

A NEW, DARK FANTASY FROM NEW YORK TIMES BESTSELLER, MIMI JEAN PAMFILOFF

King isn’t who she thought. She wasn’t even close…

When Mia Turner’s life becomes tethered to a mysterious billionaire, who she swears is the devil himself, she knows she must break free. It doesn’t matter if everything about him—those sinful lips, those pale gray eyes, that perfect male body—keeps her awake at night. He’s evil. She has to get away.

But when this man, known simply as King, suddenly disappears, Mia will discover she’s not home free. Because without King, she’s no longer safe from his ruthless, depraved, power-hungry social circle.

To survive, Mia will have to conceal King’s absence and walk a mile in the evil man’s twisted, cruel shoes. What she discovers will leave her more terrified and her heart more conflicted than she ever imagined.

King is not who she thought. She wasn’t even close.

My Thoughts:

Just when I thought I had seen it all in King’s, Pamfiloff ups the ante in King for a Day. The story continues where is stopped off in King’s with Mia Turner looking for the enigmatic and frustratingly sexy, King who disappeared at the end of book 1. In King for a Day, Mia has to virtually become King to stop Vaughn and the 10 Club from taking everything King owns, including her. Mia’s is up against the clock as he tries to be King and acquire the things that he said he would for his clients. Sadly fate works against Mia and people plot against her landing her squarely in Vaughn’s clutches. While a “guest” at his island estate, Mia learns things about herself and about King that intrinsically alters her “good girl” persona by the time we get to the end of the story. The Mia at the end of the story is dark and bitter and hellbent on revenge. And, book three isn’t due to come out until November so it will be agony not knowing what happens to the characters until then. Will King be able to change Mia’s mind and win her heart? Will Mia accept her new reality and King as part of it? And what about that dang Artifact. Will it or does it even work at all? *Biting nails until November*
